Antigonish Radio is a locally owned online radio network based in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. It was built around a simple idea: great music, a local connection, and something listeners can turn on and feel good about.

What began as a personal passion project has grown into a four-station network featuring 86.3 The Mix, Backroads 86.7, Oldies 86, and Rock 86.

Each station has its own sound and personality while sharing the same goal: creating a warm, familiar listening experience that fits naturally into everyday life.

Whether you are at work, at home, on the road, or listening through a smart speaker, Antigonish Radio is designed to be easy to access, easy to enjoy, and always close to home.

Our Story

Antigonish Radio began during a time when founder Darcy DeLorey was searching for something positive, structured, and creative to focus on.

With a lifelong interest in radio, returning to it provided a renewed sense of purpose, direction, and connection.

What began as one online station soon developed into a growing independent radio network built from the ground up. From learning the technical side of streaming and automation to developing a full studio and cloud-based broadcast operation, every step helped shape what Antigonish Radio is today.

At its core, the project has always been about connection: creating something meaningful for listeners while remaining rooted in the local community.

Antigonish Radio is proud to support local events, organizations, businesses, non-profit groups, and volunteers throughout the region.

Community announcements and local happenings are shared regularly across the network to help keep listeners informed and connected.

Through our Community Connections program, eligible non-profit organizations, volunteer groups, and community initiatives can receive complimentary on-air support.

We believe local radio still matters. Even in a digital world, there is real value in having something that feels familiar, personal, and close to home.

A Personal Connection

Before launching Antigonish Radio, Darcy spent more than two decades working in paramedicine.

After being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, returning to radio became a way to reconnect with something creative, familiar, and meaningful.

That experience helped shape the foundation of the network. The stations are built around creating something steady, positive, and community-focused, both for listeners and for the people behind the scenes.

Building Antigonish Radio also created a way for Darcy to continue doing something he loves while developing an independent, modern, and sustainable local service.

Looking Ahead

Antigonish Radio continues to grow with a focus on improving the listening experience, expanding community involvement, and building a sustainable, professional operation while preserving the grassroots spirit it began with.

The goal remains simple: keep it local, keep it positive, and keep building something listeners can rely on every day.

Antigonish Radio operates in accordance with Canadian music licensing requirements and supports the artists and music heard across all four stations.
